Querida
Scale: Unknown. A half block model of the yacht 'Querida' (1892) made entirely of wood with metal fittings in a bread and butter fashion. The hull is made from five horizontal planks pinned and glued together. The lower part of the hull has been painted black with the topsides, deck and cockpit coambing stained and varnished in natural wood. It is fitted with a metal centreboard and probably a rudder as well (now missing) with the shape consisting of a curved shallow bow running through the midship section and tapering towards a small wine glass-shaped transom stern. The deck is fitted with a single stump mast and a a bowsprit both of which are finished in a natural wood and varnished. Other fittings include a metal stem head hoop for the bowsprit, a single chain plate and a metal tiller and rudder post. There is a large rectangular shaped cockpit fitted with a coambing which finishes to an angled point at the bow. The whole model is mounted on a softwood backboard which has been stained and varnished and is complete with a bevelled edge.
