Triune 30; Recreation vessel; Yacht, Trimaran

Scale: 1:10. A rigged demonstration model, complete with a set of sails, which was specially made to promote the actual vessel at the London Boat Show in 1966. The roof of the model can be removed to show the ‘Triune 30’s’ interior layout. Seating, galley and other details are featured, albeit rather plainly. The model is very much of its time, looking more like an aircraft than a boat with its large-scale ‘Airfix’ type display stand.

The 'Triune 30' (1966) was designed by P. R. (Robin) Chaworth-Musters, and built by his company, Musters Marine Ltd., in Poole, on the south coast of England. It had a glass-fibre hull, deck and coach roof, and was cutter-rigged on an alloy mast and main boom. It was aimed at an increasingly affluent and pleasure-seeking market and, in looks at least, was a complete departure from the traditional cruising motor yacht. In many respects, it was a holiday home on water.

The model was presented to NMM by the family of Robin Chaworth-Musters, together with the tank-testing models of the ‘Triune 30’s’ three hulls, plans, promotional photographs, and advertisements.
