Resistance (1793); Warship; Frigate; 40 guns

Scale: 1:48. A model of 'Resistance' (1793), a French 40 gun frigate made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours.

The hull is hollowed out and painted a copper colour below the waterline and black above. There is a broad white horizontal stripe along the gundeck, with the gunports finished in grey and edged in red. The model is complete with a square stern gallery, a quarter gallery, a rudder with its gudgeons and pintles and, at the bow, a set of drift trails, cathead and a female figurehead. The single deck, together with the inboard bulwark is painted off white and devoid of detail.

The model is mounted on a wooden backboard painted off white with mahogany stained edging.
