Launching casket
Launching casket HMY 'Victoria & Albert' 1855. A wooden casket, lined in red velvet, with a silver plaque on the lid and inlaid silver corners. The box has a lock and key. The plaque is inscribed: 'Victoria and Albert 1855'. Inside the lid in ink: 'Principal dimensions of Her Majesty's Steam Yacht Victoria and Albert, Length between the perpendiculars 300 ft, Length of keel for tonnage 275 ft 2 7/8", Breadth extreme 40 ft 3 1/4", Breadth for tonnage 40 ft 01/4", Breadth moulded 39 ft 01/4", Depth in hold 24ft 6", Burthen in tons No 234 75/94. Named and launched by Lady Milford at Her Majesty's Yard, Pembroke Dock the 16th Jany 1855.'
