HMS Shah (1870); Warship; Frigate; 28 guns

Scale: 1:48. A half block model of the port side of the battleship HMS Shar (1870), made entirely in wood and painted dark brown below the waterline, a narrow off-white stripe above and black above the waterline. Hull details include a ram bow, two large gun mounting insets at bow and stern and five rectangular gunports between them, two rows of square portholes, rudder and a well for the propeller which is either missing or was not originally fitted. The well also forms an aperture in the backboard on which the model is mounted. Other fittings include stump bowsprit, foremast, mainmast and mizzen mast, and two lozenge-shaped funnels, painted black. The model is displayed on a backboard painted off-white with a mahogany-stained frame with bevelled edge. On plaque attached to top left-hand corner of backboard ‘Shah’.
