The hospital ship Saint Andrew [St. Andrew] (1908) under way at Dover.
A starboard view just aft of the broadside of the cross Channel steamer Saint Andrew (1908), under way at Dover while serving as an hospital ship. She is painted in the appropriate livery. The breakwater is in the background with armed trawlers(?) anchored off the bow and stern. The end of the guest boom (boat boom) with a rope ladder from the light cruiser HMS Aurora (1913) can be seen on the extreme right of the image.
HMS Aurora (1913) left Harwich on 12 April and arrived at Dover at 1.05pm where she undertook night defence off the Downs. Aurora returned to Harwich on 20 April via Edinburgh Channel and Black Deep. [Ship's log, TNA, ADM 53/34496].
