Scale: 1:48. A full hull model of the mail packet Orinoco (1886), made entirely in wood with wood, metal and organic material fittings and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted brick red below the waterline and black above. Hull details include figurehead and decorative trailboards; two rows of portholes running the entire length, one above the strake, the other below it; two companionways rigged to each of the port and starboard sides; single four-bladed propeller; and decorated stern. The depicted vessel is three-masted, fully-rigged as a barquentine, with a short bowsprit and with a provision for three square sails on the foremast. The masts, yards, spars, superstructure and most of the deck fittings are polished wood with inscribed penwork details. Fittings include set of anchors rigged to the port and starboard bows; superstructure forward with flying bridge and navigation lights; main superstructure amidships accommodating six lifeboats rigged to davits, two tall funnels painted black, and ventilators; deckhouse and two further lifeboats on davits aft; and two ship’s boats, secondary wheel and ensign staff at the stern.
