A shipbuilders plating model of an open swim barge made from a solid block of wood. The hull has been painted ivory white. The hull has been marked with constructional details which include the size and disposition of frames, hull plates, weld lines and joints. External fittings include a fixed skeg at the stern and a stringer on the underside of the swimhead, whilst on deck there are four towing bollards (one missing), a raised patch coambing and a tow rail on the foredeck. The model is mounted on a wooden backboard which is painted the same colour as the hull and has a slightly moulded edge. The backboard is inscribed '250 tons open swim barges built for W M Cory and Son Ltd by Tees Side Ltd. By the Tees Side Bridge & Engineering works Ltd 1946.
