Service vessel; Hunting vessel; Whaleboat

A full hull model of a mid-19th century whaleboat. Built at a scale of approximately 1:12, it is complete with three oars (two missing) mounted in crutches, a boat hook and rudder with yoke steering at the stern. The design of this boat is based on the types carried on board the whaling ships of the mid-19th century onwards and would have been used primarily for carrying personnel and provisions from ship to shore rather than for fishing.
