Sectional model; Armour plate model

Scale: Unknown. Sectional model showing an arrangement of armour plating on a gunboat, as patented by Mr Jones in 1861. Three box plates are depicted, rolled and arranged in two rows in a staggered pattern, with their ends and sides turned up. The model has been made in wood and stained a uniform dark brown colour, and the iron rivets connecting the plates have been depicted using small drops of lead. On the upper most edge of the top box plate, a paper label has been applied which reads "Jones's patent No.1202 DI.3274/61 Box plates rolled and sides and ends turned up". Beside the label, marked on the wood "(A)" has been painted.
