Sectional model; Armour plate model

Scale: Unknown. A sectional model of a box plate and clip used as armour plating on wooden ships, as patented by Mr Jones in 1861. The model has been made entirely in wood and has two clips with dovetail joints that can be removed from the box plate. At either end of the box plate there are a further four dovetail joints. A paper label has been applied to the underside of the box plate and reads "Jones's patent No.1202 Box plate and clip for armoured wooden ships".
