Warship; Wooden-hull iron clad; Frigate
Scale: 1:1. A model of a scupper valve made entirely of brass, two pieces soldered together with a pair of hinges at the top running parallel sides to a rounded bottom. The valve is bulbous on one side with a small edge to it, while the other side is completely flat, running to the joining edge, forming a hollow chamber and making the whole valve completely water tight.
On the bulbous face of the valve is a hand painted inscription in white paint "32oz", while the flat sided face has “48oz”. On the flat face it is also stamped with the broad arrow above and below the hand painted inscription.
One of a set of two models: see SLR2407.
