Sectional model; Midship model

Scale: Unknown. A model of a midship section which shows Hoory's method for stopping underwater leaks. The model is made almost entirely in wood and mounted on a mahogany baseboard with four supports. The hull is painted brick red below the waterline with black above separated by a thin white line. There is a single gun port which is painted red internally, through which passes a continuous chain partially securing the arm of the leak stopping mechanism in position. The arm of this mechanism is secured at the top by a circular mount which slots into a square aperture secured to the outside of the hull. A screwjack mechanism is fitted above which when turned applies pressure to the lower end which is fitted with a flat circular pad. The interior of the model shows the framing and deck layout and is painted a light blue/grey with the deck partially planked in varnished wood and black ceiling planks alongside the keel.
