HMS Pique (1834); Warship, Frigate; 36 guns
Scale: Unknown. Model depicting the lower mast of HMS 'Pique' (1845), a sailing frigate of 36 guns. The model mast is made of individual pieces held together by iron hoops. It is also fitted with cheeks and knees to support the platform or fighting top while the heel of the mast is complete with a square foot which would locate onto the mast step on the keelson. It would appear that the model is made of mahogany which is stained and varnished and there is a hand written, slightly illegible inscription on the aft side of the mast which reads 'Rd octr 30..'
