Service vessel; Coastguard cruiser
Scale: Unknown. A half block model of the starboard side of a coastguard cruiser (circa 1870) made entirely in wood and painted in realistic colours. The hull is painted brick red below the waterline and black above. Fittings include a decorated bow and stern; a single strake running the entire length of the hull; stump bowsprit, foremast , mainmast and mizzen mast; single stump funnel, painted black; and provision for a single propeller. The model is displayed on a rectangular wooden backboard, painted light blue-grey. Hand rendered on top centre of backboard ‘Coast Guard Cruiser.’. Hand-rendered on bottom centre of backboard ‘Thames Iron Works Building Engineering, & Dry Dock Company’. On reverse of backboard ‘To E.T. Adams Esq, Cloak Room, Victoria Station, SEC.C RLY.
