HMS Warrior (1860); Warship; 40 gun
Scale: 1:1. Full size sectional design model depicting longitudinal frame for HMS Warrior (1860), a 40 gun single screw ironclad vessel. The model shows a section of a longitudinal frame which is made entirely of wood and painted black overall. The model can be disassembled by undoing four threaded eyebolts.
It has been painted with white lettering and reads "Warrior” “Mode of Construction of Longitudinal Frames. Plate or Web, Full Size” and at the base on the inner edge “Angle Iron” and the outer edge “Angle Iron on the Outer Edge (a)”. On one end of the cross-section of the base angle iron is inscribed “1/2 an inch, Do”. A paper label has been applied to the top of the model, which is discoloured and illegible.
