Ordnance model; Gun model
Scale: Unknown. Model of a Hotchkiss quick firing gun (1907) with pedestal recoil mounting. The bulk of the body and mount is made from machined brass, and the smaller components from steel (blued), all of which has been lacquered. The gun shield has been painted white. The model has been made to demonstrate the workings of the gun including elevation, arc of fire, and a full working breech and firing mechanism. Just behind the breech is an extended shoulder guard with a wooden shaped pad used for training it by the operator. It is complete with two loose brass shells tipped with lead. There is also a brass plaque attached to the baseboard inscribed: "Cambridge 1907". The whole model is mounted on a wooden baseboard within a bespoke wooden glazed display case.
