Cargo vessel; Junk

Scale: Unknown. A model of a junk made entirely in wood, stained and varnished a dark brown colour throughout. The hull has been made plank on frame, the planks are very wide and secured to the frame with a number of bulkheads. The bow is steeply raked and the keel has been pierced at intervals. The stern has a rudder well but the rudder is missing but there is a steering oar. A square frame has been built onto the stern and there are two deck extensions attached to the port and starboard stern quarters. There is provision for two masts but the masts are not included or are missing. The model is equipped with two steerring oars, one larger than the other and 10 paddling oars each of which has been made from two lengths of timber tied together, and what appears to be two boats hooks. There are cargo hatches along the entire length of the deck, seven of which have hatch covers and each hatch has its own separate compartment. There are four heavy deck beams, two at the bow and two at the stern, placed transversely that extend beyond the hull on the port and starboard sides. The model is displayed on a pair of short rectangular pillar supports on a wooden rectangular base with bevelled edges, grained to resemble walnut.
