Passenger vessel

Scale: Unknown. A model of a surf boat made entirely in wood with metal fittings. The hull is double ended and the planks are very wide and attached to a lightweight system of frames. The two ends of the boat have been reinforced with bracing on the exterior of the hull. There are two large floorboards in the bottom of the boat identical in size and shape. There are three thwarts and a small seat at one end of the boat. The model is equipped with 11 short paddles with trident-shaped blades and a steering oar. The model is fitted to a wooden display stand with integral supports, to which a silver plaque is attached and inscribed "PRESENTED TO HER MAJESTY QUEEN ELIZABETH II TO THE PORT OF ACCRA ON XIXIMCMLXI". The model is stored in a bespoke, close fitting box made from an exotic carved piece of wood.
