The stern has three distinct panels painted with a sun in the centre panel and two exotic birds on the panels either side of it. Below the panels is a painted floral decoration and below this a tablet with painted bird decoration. The aft end of the poop deck has a small roundel with a painted ying yang decoration. The interior of the model is heavily stained and varnished and reveals the internal construction of the model. There are three hatches but no hatch covers. Just aft of the hatches there is a transverse railing painted black. There are remains of a tabernacle amidships but no mast. There is provision for a foremast at the extreme bow end. From the bow to the black railing there are raised bulwarks, painted red on which are mounted three pairs of thole pins. The bow has elaborately painted decoration in blue, black, and yellow ochre on a red background. The model has a bluff bow with two flat extensions projecting on the port and starboard sides. The model is equipped with a pair of identical oars with black painted blades, red painted upper parts and handles. The model is displayed on a pair of rectangular black painted supports fixed to a wooden rectangular baseboard, with bevelled edges and grained to simulate walnut. On the upper surface of the baseboard is '5'. On a paper label on the starboard hull is '3'.
