White Ensign
British naval ensign. A fragment of a white ensign worn by HMS 'Vindictive' 1897. This vessel famously carried landed marines in a diversionary infantry attack during the raid on Zeebrugge in 1918 and was eventually sunk during a later raid on Ostend. Rope and two Inglefield clips attached. Eyelets in hoist. Fragment only remains.
