Dry card compass
Bowl: Copper painted black. Stands on three legs and has a stop mechanism outside wall. Glazed. Painted white inside with black lubber line. One black bar support for pivot holder attached to inside wall. Glazed top is removable.
Card: Paper covered mica. Blue with black markings graduated 0 - 90 deg quadrantally and in quarter points. Decorated North point. Screw bar runs N-S with brass weights. Balancing weight on underside. Diameter 7.55" (19.4cm) Both cards are identical.
Needle: Two parallel bar needles held in position by brass cross strut. Length 6.5" (1.5cm) x 0.5" (0.6cm) wide.
Pivot: Brass pivot going into a jewelled pivot cap. Stop mechanism slides up pivot support. Both card boxes contain spare pivots.
