9902
A mahogany fusee dial clock, English, circa 1930
The twelve-inch painted dial has Roman numerals and painted steel hands with glazed spun bezel. The turned mahogany surround is secured to the back box by means of four wooden pegs. The standard chain fusee movement has an anchor escapement and grained plates secured by screwed pillars.
This design of clock was typically hung in offices, schools and public areas. The rear of the twelve inch dial is stamped GPO-APPD-2706., which suggests that it was initially purchased by the General Post Office (G.P.O.).
