Card for dry compass

Card: Mica covered with paper. Black with white markings graduated to quarter points. Has two variation scales North and South. 0 - 45 deg East and West of the points, with slits below graduations
Card divided in points; north = fleur-de-lys

Needle: Flat bar needle with hole at centre to accommodare pivot. 6.25" (16.9 cm) long. Has two brass markers one on each end with adjuster screw underneath. These are to allow the needle to be moved to counteract the variation, marker indicates on degree scales how much variation has been put on.
Steel needle is adjustable (using brass tightening screws on bottom) with respect to the card, which has degree scales at north and south to indicate the offset angle (for variation). Scales run from 0 to 45 degrees either side.

Pivot: Cone shaped brass pivot with jewel on top.
