Unnamed 74-gun Third Rate, two-decker (no date); possibly 'Spencer' (1800)
Scale: 1:48. Plan showing the body plan, sheer lines, and longitudinal half-breadth proposed for an unnamed 74-gun Third Rate, two-decker. This plan possibly is the precursor design for 'Spencer' (1800), which was designed by the French emigre J. Barrallier, as the dimensions are very similar, with a length of 181ft 4inches, and breadth of 47ft.
The 'Spencer' was 181ft long with a breadth of 49ft. Moreover, the class design was approved by Their Lords Commissioners on 21 September 1795, which matches the approval date on the plan.
