NMM, Progress Book, volume 2, folio 415, states that 'Nightingale' was surveyed on 15 July 1759 at Woolwich. She was fitted at Woolwich Dockyard to receive Impressed Men between 20 September and 2 October 1770. Volume 5, folio 335, states that Nightingale was docked at Woolwich on 17 April 1776 and undocked on 17 June 1776. She sailed on 2 November 1776 for the Tower, having been fitted as a Receiving Ship.
