NMM, Progress Book, volume 5, folio 775, states that the 'Cornwallis' arrrived at Deptford Dockyard on 11 July 1798 and was docked on 10 September to be sheathed with fir. She was undocked on 13 November 1798 having been fitted as a naval transport. By Warrant dated 13 November 1798 'Cornwallis' was renamed 'Dispatch'.
