The paddle tug Uncle Sam (1849), seen from ahead of her starboard beam, is approaching the liner's amidships accommodation ladder. The mast of a vessel berthed alongside the liner's port side can be seen above the ship's bridge. Tilbury is in the background. the emulsion on the negative is peeling.
