Britannia (1887)
A whole plate negative. A poor quality starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Britannia (1887) at anchor in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. The paddle tug Uncle Sam (1849), seen from ahead of her starboard beam, is approaching the liner's amidships accommodation ladder. The mast of a vessel berthed alongside the liner's port side can be seen above the ship's bridge. Tilbury is in the background. the emulsion on the negative is peeling.
