Glenfruin (1880)

A whole plate negative. A starboard near broadside view, taken from just ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Glenfruin (1880) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has three yards on her foremast. She is dressed overall with every signal flag she can muster and she has awnings rigged over both well decks and the poop in preparation for getting under way and having the honour of being the first cargo ship to enter port at the official opening of Tilbury Docks. The emulsion is peeling. Negatives numbers G1743, G1747, G1748, G1787, G1951 and G2317 were taken on the same occasion. G2317 is the best of these images.
