Grantully Castle (1879)
A whole plate negative. A starboard side view, taken from ahead of the beam, of the passenger/cargo liner Grantully Castle (1879) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a two yards on each of her masts and her accommodation ladder is fitted with a canvas dodger. A small steam launch named Norman is at anchor in the foreground. She is fitted with a tall thin funnel and a derrick on a short mast. She does not appear in the Mercantile Navy List. The Coast Guard Watch Vessel CGWV 28 (1847) is on the Tilbury shore in the background. Negatives numbers G1656 and G1673 were taken on the same occasion.
