A whole plate negative. A starboard broadside view of the passenger/cargo liner Lydian Monarch (1881) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has an auxiliary sailing rig with three yards on each of her fore and main masts, comprising a course and double topsails; her topgallants have been sent down. She is flying the United States courtesy flag from her foremast. Tilbury is in the background.
