Southern Cross (1886)
A 12x10 negative. A slightly distant port side view, taken from well ahead of the beam, of the steam sealer and expedition ship Southern Cross (1886) at moorings in Gravesend Reach, River Thames. She has a barque rig with double topsails, single topgallants and single royals. She has an emblem on her funnel that resembles a six pointed star formed of a dark diagonal cross with a lighter coloured vertical bar over it. Tilbury Fort is in the background.
