The Learning team coordinates regular projects and partnerships at the National Maritime Museum, the Queen's House, Cutty Sark and the Prince Philip Maritime Collections Centre, to engage and celebrate learners who are less likely to access our core learning programme. We also run an annual Partner School Programme, connecting in depth with a partner school over the course of an academic year. You can find out more about previous projects and partnerships below. If you are a school interested in partnering with us, sign up to our newsletter to be the first to find out when new opportunities are available.
The Partner School Programme
Our Partner School for 2023/24 is Phoenix Primary and Secondary School.
Phoenix is a special school in Bow, serving children and young people with autism. Fifteen students from Years 1–7 took part in SENsory Seas, a session from our core programme, on site at their school. This session inspired a movement piece and the Learning team worked with the students over five weeks of workshops, culminating in a performance during the school’s Arts Week. Watch the video below to find out more about this partnership and see the students perform.
Generously supported by the Dr Lee MacCormick Edwards Charitable Foundation.
Hospital school outreach
Through activities inspired by objects in our collection, we engage children attending hospital schools and their siblings in art interventions.
Above is a curated display of student work at the Royal Marsden Hospital, created using x-rays of globes in our collection as inspiration for collage.
