One of the most important things to consider when picking a venue for your event is how people will get there. Luckily, we have this covered! Greenwich is easily accessible from train, tube, bus and river and we're happy to work with our clients on bespoke transport plans and provide handy directional maps to ensure your guests, wherever they are coming from, get to us safely and easily. Take a look below at the myriad of options for you.
Travel in style, by river
With the Cutty Sark just steps away from Greenwich Pier, and our other venues a short walk away, the river is the perfect way to arrive at your event.
Public river services
By sailing to Greenwich, the transport to the event becomes part of the event, with the chance to take in the scenery and enjoy the onboard bar! Whether your guests arrive by public boat, or you decide to host a drinks reception on a chartered boat, your guests can savour a glass of something as they sail down the Thames to us.
The fastest and most frequent river transport services, Uber Boat by Thames Clippers departs from all major London piers every 20 minutes. Your journey time is 45 minutes from London Eye Pier, 25 minutes from London Bridge Pier or 20 minutes from Tower Pier. With windows on all sides, a bar at the back serving food and drinks, and a back deck that allows for those wanting fresh air, this is the most popular option for our clients. You can also privately hire these usually public boats for speedy, exclusive service.
Accessibility
Greenwich Pier has installed Europe's first Ramp Rider, greatly improving access for wheelchair users getting on and off boats at low tide.
Chartered boats
Thames Luxury Charters provide an exciting yet elegant service. Offering a range of services and entertainment across their fleet of quirky boats that include the Dixie Queen with a capacity of up to 620 guests, you can make your journey to your event at Royal Museums Greenwich as bespoke as the event itself.
Woods Silver Fleet offer the ultimate luxury. Highly sought after for their hospitality and opulent yacht interior, this fleet has been chartered for film stars, British Royalty and the like for decades. Their largest boat, the Silver Sturgeon offers room for up to 550 guests with a luxurious interior and open air top and back decks.
Arrive on foot
Whether you choose to hike, stroll or pedal, this is the best way to enjoy the surrounding areas of Maritime Greenwich.
Walking
The Thames Path is a long distance walking route that follows the course of the river through London. At Greenwich, the path runs along the north bank, but the Greenwich Foot Tunnel allows visitors to reach the south bank, emerging right outside Cutty Sark. This foot tunnel also provides walking routes from Canary Wharf and the Isle of Dogs.
If you're coming from the south, you can stop for a browse in one of the shops in Blackheath Village before heading across the Blackheath Common and into Greenwich Park where the Royal Observatory and Peter Harrison Planetarium are located. The park offers views across London from the Wolfe Statue and over 5000 acres of historic parkland to explore.
All our sites are easily walked between in under 10 minutes, which is why we're proud to be the only collection of historic venues where you can hire multiple venues to move from day to evening, or for larger events spread your guests across Greenwich.
Cycling
Greenwich is ideally located on the National Cycle Network. It can be reached by traffic-free routes that run through parks and alongside the rivers Thames, Lea and Ravensbourne.
Free London cycle guides illustrating routes can be ordered online from Transport for London. For further information on National Cycle Routes, visit the Sustrans website.
Cycle racks are provided in the National Maritime Museum car park in Park Row if you are attending an event at the National Maritime Museum or Queen's House; there is a cycle rack at the head of Cutty Sark for events here; and there are cycle paths in Greenwich Park for access to the Royal Observatory.
Please note that for Royal Observatory and Peter Harrison Planetarium events, Greenwich Park will be closed when you leave and you will not be able to cycle out of the park directly. You will be escorted to St Mary's Gate at the bottom of the hill in our mini-buses.
Bicycles are parked, stored and left at your risk. We do not accept liability for any loss, destruction, damage or theft and recommend that you purchase a good quality 'D'-lock.
