Less Talking and Royal Museums Greenwich have partnered to produce 'The Optimism Sessions'.
This is a creative wellbeing programme for those aged 18-24 from a global majority background, to gather each week and freely express themselves through art, play and reflection. Participants will be encouraged to rethink the world they live in, exploring how they can affect it positively.
With guidance from artist, poet, and creative practitioner Joel Sydenham, participants will explore objects from the Royal Museums Greenwich collection to inspire and connect with them.
At the end of the 12-week programme, Less Talking and Royal Museums Greenwich will produce a magazine featuring contributions from the sessions, which will be publicly available.
Dates and themes overview
In collaboration with Royal Museums Greenwich, 'The Optimism Sessions' is a 12-week programme encouraging young adults to explore creativity, art, and personal reflection. Each session is designed to inspire self-expression, foster connection, and explore themes that matter to participants.
The workshops, running from October 17 to December 19 2024, focus on powerful themes such as Refuge, Empathy, Difference, and Blue Sky Thinking.
Led by a creative practitioner, each session will draw inspiration from the museum's collection, offering a unique perspective on how art and history can shape our understanding of the world and our ability to affect change.
