Be transported to the setting of the Stuart court in this concert of early music given by Collegium Musicum 90

Known for their performances of Baroque and Classical music on period instruments, the orchestra will perform pieces composed by the musicians who worked for Anne of Denmark and Henrietta Maria. The Stuart monarchs shaped the construction of the Queen’s House during the 17th century.

Come and enjoy works by John Dowland and Henry Lawes and listen to popular pieces by Henry Purcell. Expect the setting of the Great Hall to lift these musical masterpieces to new heights.

Collegium Musicum 90

Collegium Musicum 90, founded by Simon Standage and Richard Hickox, has a well-established reputation for the performance of Baroque and Classical music, from chamber pieces to large-scale works for choir and orchestra. Highly acclaimed for its performances and recordings, it has made more than 60 CDs under its exclusive contract with Chandos Records.

Christoph Urbanetz

The Austrian viola da gamba player Christoph Urbanetz has appeared as a soloist in recitals all over Europe and made many broadcasts and recordings, playing with the most prestigious European musicians.

Born in Vienna, he graduated "summa cum laude" at the "Schola Cantorum Basiliensis" with Paolo Pandolfo in Basel and at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Vittorio Ghielmi. He also studied with Christophe Coin at the Conservatoire National Supérieur in Paris and participated in several masterclasses with Jordi Savall.

A current leading expert on the largely unknown catalogue of performance instructions by Marin Marais, he has a PhD from the Mozarteum University and holds positions as a viol teacher at the universities of Vienna, Linz and Graz and the Academy of Music Krakow.

He has won several prizes including first prize at the International Competition for Viola da gamba in Sevilla and the Romanus Weichlein prize at the H.I.F. Biber Competition in St.Florian.

Morgen Michel

Morgen Michel is a French countertenor based in London. He discovered his passion for singing through his first singing teacher, Gilly Ross, and his participation in the Taplow Youth Choir under the direction of Gillian Dibden.

He is currently in the second year of a Masters of Music in Vocal Performance at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, where he is taught by Lynton Atkinson and Alistair Young and is a member of Rubythroat, a select group of singers led by Linda Hirst.

During his master's degree, he was awarded the Morag Noble Scholarship and the Kathleen Roberts Vocal Scholarship. He has been the Morden Scholar at the Old Royal Naval College since 2021.

He serves as a staff member on the Rodolfus Choral Courses and was part of the 13th cohort of Genesis Sixteen, working with Harry Christophers and Eamonn Dougan. He is passionate about choral music, conducting the newly-founded Beati Consort, and also pursues a solo career in oratorios and operas.
