Jane Letitia Trowbridge Bruce was the daughter of Admiral Sir Henry W. Bruce (1792-1863) and his first wife Jane Cochrane. She married John Richard Alexander at Sierra Leone in 1853. At this time Alexander was serving as a lieutenant on HMS PENELOPE (1843), flagship of Commodore Bruce on the west coast of Africa station. She died at Castlerock, Londonderry, in 1904.
