Volume containing notes made by Dobbie as a lieutenant on the gunnery training ship HMS EXCELLENT ex BOYNE (1810), circa 1838. Including diagrams of different parts of a gun, carriage, corronade, lock, etc. and tables of ranges for different guns, elevations and types of shot. Also tables of fuses, cartridges, and other ordnance, made during a laboratory course.
