A sailor sits on the beach just above the waterline watching another sailor in the act of throwing a stick for dog standing next to him. He and the dog are beside a small rowing boat pulled up on the beach, mostly above the waterline.

Dr Coppinger records arriving off Somerset and Albany Island in early June and remained in the Torres Strait area for four months. They left on 1 October for Port Darwin, arriving on 20 October 1881.
