A formal group photograph of four Australian Aboriginal women, one man and five children sitting on the beach beside a bark canoe at Port Darwin. The five adults are also in the previous photograph (ALB0167.141), as is the boy with the nose bone at the front of the group. The man is wearing a wide decorated belt around his waist above the white cloth wrap.

The photograph is captioned: 'Group of Aborigines at Port Darwin.'

Dr. R. W. Coppinger records arriving at Port Darwin on 20 October 1881 but does not state when they left. However, he does say that they saw Timor on 5 November. An engraving of this photograph is in his book on page 205 with the caption 'Aborigines of North-West Australia'.
