The MS DEVONIA was built in 1939 as the DEVONSHIRE. In 1962, Bibby Line sold the ship to British India Line for £175,000 The ship was converted into an educational cruise ship by Barclay Curle in Whiteinch, Glasgow carrying 194 cabin passengers and 834 dormitory passengers.
