Lists of deeds.

Various lists of deeds belonging to The Sailors’ Home and Red Ensign Club and deposited at Williams Deacon’s Bank Ltd., 20 Birchin Lane, London. Included is some correspondence between the secretary and general manager, and the solicitors Hawes, Wood and Ware, 7 Great Winchester Street, London.

(1) Precis of deeds from 1829-1830 declaring the trusts of the property of The Sailors’ Home, 1892.
(2) Schedule of title deeds belonging to The Sailors’ Home, London Docks, in the box at The Sailors’ Home, dated 13 April 1904 and revised on 1 September 1919.
(3) List of title deeds from 1721-1903 belonging to The Marine Society, 5 Clark’s Place, Bishopgate Street (Within), London, handed over to Williams Deacon’s Bank Ltd. in sealed parcel marked ‘A’, dated 25 February 1908, together with a receipt.
(4) List of deeds from 1829-1895 required for production to the solicitors of The Equitable Life Insurance Society, dated 16 January 1912.
(5) List of documents from 1884-1887 relating to the Gravesend sale, sent to Hawes, Wood and Ware, dated 24 January 1921.
(6) Schedule of documents from 1829-1925 relating to The Equitable Life Assurance Society, dated 16 October 1925.
(7) Receipt for a tin box deposited at William Deacon’s Bank Ltd, dated 31 March 1926.
(8) Typescript schedule of title deeds relating to premises at Well Street and Dock Street, deposited in The Sailors’ Home and Red Ensign Club box at Williams Deacon’s Bank Ltd. on 30 December 1942. With some handwritten notes on accruals up to 1954.
(9) Folded plan of The Sailors’ Home between Well Street and Dock Street, with notes explaining details of the purchase or lease of various parts of the premises, and which bundle of deeds (as used in the above lists) they relate to.
