Deck cadet's record book

Merchant Navy Training Board record book, with proof of practical training completed by Trevor John Boult during his cadetship on vessels managed by W.A. Souter & Co. Ltd. of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 1974-1977.

The book records the progress of on-the-job training in bridge duties, including use of a chronometer, sextant and compass, as well as EDH (efficient deck hand) duties including derrick work, the rigging and stowage of ladders and gangways, operation of windlasses, letting go and weighing anchors, using a patent log and hand lead for soundings, handling hatch covers, and the use and maintenance of fire extinguishers.
