Correspondence and papers relating to the transport of naval officers and men from Portsmouth to the China Station in the naval transport SS MINNESOTA, of which Henry Hamilton was appointed Officer in Command. Included is a copy of Article 829 of the King’s Regulations and Admiralty Instructions, covering areas including powers, discipline and misconduct. Also included are papers covering the daily routines, as well as facilities and allowances provided for the seamen during the passage, such as sporting equipment, lectures and alcohol.
