Letters relating to Assistant Paymaster Nicholas John Aaron (1839-1891):

Letters from Aaron to his mother, sent from the paddle frigate HMS PENELOPE (1829) at Point de Galle, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), 1858; the screw frigate HMS TOPAZE (1858) on the Pacific station, 1866-1868; and the survey ship HMS NASSAU (1866) at Valparaiso, 1868. There is also a letter to Aaron from Paymaster John N. De Vries about a vacancy for an assistant paymaster, sent from HMS FISGARD (1819), flagship at Woolwich, 1864.
