Plan of the approach to Shanghai from the sea, indicating the position of lighthouses and radio beacons in the estuary; the light-ships and gas-lighted buoys in the South Channel and Whangpoo, and the Amherst Rocks named after the East India Company's ship 'Lord Amherst' lost there in 1934. The Ariande Rocks are inside the track between the Amherst Rocks and the Tungshe Banks and are marked by the Whistling buoy.
