Nelson to Lady Hamilton explaining his absence and the search for the betrothed wife of Priore.
Nelson to Lady Hamilton, 3 Feb 1800, on meeting a Peer (Lord Keith) and a vow to capture Le Genereux. He also commenting that his Commander in Chief will not allow him on sure until he has seen him explaining the reason for his absence. The letter mentions Nelson's intentions to write to Prince Leopold and to send him the French Admirals flag. Letter also mentions Mr Tyson and the Consul have not been able to find the betrothed wife of the Priore.

The peer Nelson is referring to is Lord Keith. Le Genereux was the only French ship present at the Battle of the Nile that had not yet been taken by the Royal Navy. Le Genereux carried the flag of a rear-admiral, who was killed in the action. Thomas Graham (1748 -1843) later to become Lord Lynedoch.
