Greene, Sir William Graham, Civil Servant, 1857-1950.
The papers form a substantial collection of notes, letters, reports, and government papers concerning Greene's work and interests. Those relating to his own career range between 1913 and 1936, of which the large section of letters and memoranda written during the First World War include drafts to Lloyd George and Churchill. There are letters and articles on Lord Alfred Douglas' (1870-1945) libel suit against the Morning Post, 1923, and on the sinking of the Lusitania 1915. On post-war technical subjects there are letters from Sir James Thursfield (q.v) and Sir Eustace Tennyson D'Eyncourt (q.v.) and on historial topics from Sir Oswyn Murray (1873-1936) and Lord William Cecil (1854-1943). Among the extracts, notes and printed papers on naval administration are lists of naval officials, dating back to the ninth century, notes on the battle of Trafalgar and on the Seven Years War.
