Wright, E. W. C.
Colonel (then captain) Edward William Carlile Wright (d.1871): letter to his mother describing the loss of the troop transport BIRKENHEAD, 2 March 1852, and internment card.
As captain of the 91st Regiment, Wright was the senior surviving military officer. He wrote the official military report which was widely published in the aftermath of the sinking.
