This volume includes much of Cole's own correspondence as well as papers of historical interest which he had collected. Among his contemporary papers are some documents from Sir Nicholas Harris Nicholas, Sir William Beatty, Mrs. Horatia Ward, Jeafferson Miles and Page Nicol Scott. The other documents include some more affidavits (See RCL/1-4), letter about Tom Allen and his widow and correspondence of Mrs. Josiah Nesbit.
